Felicity Brown is an ambitious Designer, based in Victoria, Australia. Currently, she is an Associate at Y2Architecture, where she works collaboratively to direct designs, from concept through to completion. Using her ability to connect with clients and understand their unique and complex needs, she delivers design solutions that not only exceed expectations, but empower communities.

Growing up in Tasmania has taught Felicity to appreciate the environment around her. She finds joy in making connections between natural and man-made spaces to create purposeful and beautiful structures that support users. From Hobart to London to Melbourne, Felicity has gained some notable notches on her business belt as a Student and Graduate Architect. Equipped with a Masters of Architecture (University of Melbourne) and a Bachelor of Planning and Design (Architecture), also from the University of Melbourne, her diverse skillset blends her commitment to structured education with hands-on industry experience. She is also currently studying to become an ‘Educational Facility Planner’ through the Advanced Academy Program with the Association for Learning Environments.

In particular, Felicity is passionate about using design to create contemporary, functional educational environments for learners. Her designs create environments that are adaptable and accommodate progress within a school setting, while staying true to each school’s pedagogical vision. Driven to make a difference to the people and places in which she works, Felicity is appreciated for working with educators, young people, leadership groups and the wider community to create enriched learning environments that not only meet their needs, but also accommodate their ambitions into the future. She keeps abreast of industry trends by attending educational conferences and events by the Association for Learning Environments. This has given her a thorough understanding of the challenges facing educators and as a result, clients leverage from her understanding, insight and problem-solving capacity.

Felicity is respected by her clients and colleagues for her ability to articulate a design vision to others, while encouraging client ownership. Using her pragmatic approach, she problem-solves issues and works within constraints towards innovative, user-centred outcomes. Felicity values ‘community’ in her processes and is an active member of the Australian Institute of Architects, the Association for Learning Environments and the Alternative Technology Association.

When she is not waist-deep in design projects, Felicity loves putting her design-eye to good use, making home improvements to her milk-bar house in West Footscray. As a creative, she is currently building a couch! Her real guilty pleasure is travelling and exploring new places, her favourite of which was traversing Scotland in a van!
